Harley Motorcycle Forums

by Jack Travers on 2009/12/31

Since the invention of the Harley Davidson motorcycle, there has always existed a sort of brotherhood amongst owners of these motorcycles. You can see it every day when you are out and about, Harley riders who don't even know each other will politely nod and acknowledge the other and they would NEVER pass a broken down biker on the side of the road. This bond exists solely due to the fact that they both choose to ride motorcycles.

I don't know where this group dynamic comes from, in fact I don't think anyone knows, but it definitely exists. In the warm summer months then bikers will congregate and get together for a few drinks, tell some stories and make friendships but in the winter months it might be a bit different. It's too cold to ride, so the internet becomes the place to make friends, talk motorcycles and build friendships.

Modern Day Biker Clubhouse

The clubhouse of today is digital and allows riders from all over the country to congregate and share those stories, without ever leaving the comfort of their house. The message board is commonplace around the internet and in a variety of niches so it is no surprise that you will find it in the biker world.

A message board is an internet forum where users can register and post messages to each other. They can customize their profile, their signature, their images etc to seperate themselves from the pack, much the same as one would do to their motorcycle. These forums run 24 hours a day and don't even close on Christmas. The Ultimate Biker hangout.

Some Popular Forums

If this sounds like something you might be interested then we will share our thoughts on a few of the forums that we personally frequent and have found attractive. There are more out there but we can't list them all.

HDForums - This forum might be the biggest Harley Forum on the net and it attracts a huge range of riders from around the country, maybe even the world. I've been a member of this forum for years and the personality has ebbed and flowed throughout those years. It used to be more fun to hangout in my opinion, but as of late has become quite corporate with a LOT of rules and strict moderator enforcement. Kind of annoying in my opinion.

VTwinforum - Very similar to the HDForum but is more of a technical resource. Most members on this site are the type who will tear down their motorcycle at the drop of a hat and don't mind helping out if you approach them in the right way. This site is very corporate as well but you can buy a membership that turns off the ads and has a few extra features as well.

HawgNet - This is a new forum that I have started on the backend of a Harley Davidson resource site that I was already building. We are building a huge selection of product reviews and still building membership and would welcome your contributions. There are NO ads and no sponsors as of yet and quite frankly, I don't see going that route but things may change.

These are just three of the forums that I have found or know about and I am sure that there are dozens more but these three show a lot of promise and you can likely find whatever you might need at one of these three.
